At 8:42 pm on Thursday, January 14, the district learned that an individual at Hendrick Hudson High School tested positive for COVID-19. The individual is currently isolating, and due to federal health privacy laws, further information about their identity cannot be released. As a result, the high school will be closed, and will implement the Remote Learning Plan, on Friday, January 15, 2021.
Hendrick Hudson School District students will continue to receive meals at no cost through the end of the school year or until the funds have been exhausted. These free benefits apply to breakfast and lunch served in the buildings and meals picked up for remote learning days.
An individual at Buchanan-Verplanck Elementary School has tested positive for COVID-19. As a result, B-V will be closed on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 and will implement the Remote Learning Plan on January 12, 2020.
The Hendrick Hudson School District offered its third free workshop designed to provide support and strategies related to social and emotional health for parents. The workshop, which took place (virtually) on Januray 4, focused on the topic of self care. The Hendrick Hudson School District has learned that individuals at Buchanan-Verplanck Elementary School and Hendrick Hudson High School have tested positive for COVID-19. As a result, B-V and the high school will be closed on Monday, January 11, 2020, and both schools will implement the Remote Learning Plan for Monday.
Students in Dr. Jeanine Hall’s Biomedical Innovations class, part of the high school’s Project Lead the Way program, recently completed a Human Footprint Reflection/Extension Project stemming from their study of toxicology and carbon footprints. Students “upcycled” numerous items typically considered waste, in order to repurpose them and reduce the amount of material heading to landfills.
I am writing to you regarding the events that unfolded in Washington D.C. yesterday. We know the images from the Capitol were troubling to many. For this reason, we plan to support students in the coming days and allow for active conversations. While our teachers and staff do not take political stances or teach from a particular political point of view, we will always emphasize the rule of law, decency and decorum.
The district has learned that an individual at Furnace Woods Elementary School tested positive for COVID-19. As a result, Furnace Woods will be closed tomorrow, Wednesday, January 6, 2021 and will implement the Remote Learning Plan.
