1:1 Device Initiative - Chromebook Resources and Information

  • For the 2022-2023 school year, every Hendrick Hudson student will be provided with a district owned chromebook or other suitable device to use during the school day and/or at home.  All district devices will be connected to the district's highly secure Chrome network.

    All students are highly encouraged to use a district device for their instructional purposes.  High school students are given the option to bring in their own device and connect to the WiFi network.  Students will be required to register their personal devices on our network before they’re allowed access to our WiFi network.  However, it is important to note that the district is unable to provide technical support for personal devicesStudents experiencing issues with WiFi are strongly encouraged to request a district provided chromebook for use during the school day.

    In order to pick up a Chromebook for the 2022-2023 school year, all students and families are required to complete the Chromebook/Device Parent/Guardian & Student Responsibility Form.  An electronic version of the Chromebook/Device Parent/Guardian & Student Responsibility Form will be emailed to parents/guardians in August.  This form must be submitted online before a chromebook can be assigned to the student.  Additionally, all students and families are expected to review and understand the following documents:

    CHROMEBOOK INSURANCE:

    All families are strongly encouraged to purchase insurance for their students' chromebooks.  Insurance is available at $32 per device, per year and covers accidental damage, cracked screen, liquid damage, fire, power surge, theft, vandalism, and more. The deadline to purchase insurance coverage is September 30, 2022.  The insurance does not provide coverage for lost and damaged chromebook batteries.  For more information regarding insurance, please review the Worth Ave Insurance flyer.  To enroll, click here.

    Damages reported for uninsured devices will be billed to the parent/guardian.  Until the amount is paid, the student will have to check-out a device from the building/library for daily in-school instructional use only; students will not be able to take the device home until the amount is paidApproximate replacement part cost at the current rate (June 2022) are: $35 - Dell Battery, $160 - Touch-Screen Digitizer Module, $30 - LCD Panel, $85 - Frame Replacement, and $300 - Chromebook Replacement.

    Chromebook Assignment by Grade

    • Students in grades K-5 will be assigned a chromebook during the first two weeks of school.  Grade 5 students will receive a new device which will remain with them until grade 8.
    • Students in grades 6-8 will be assigned a chromebook during the first two weeks of school.  Students will keep the same device until grade 8.
    • Students in grade 9 will pick up their assigned chromebooks at the 9th grade orientation or during the first two weeks of school, if you are not bringing your own personal device to school.  Grade 9 students will receive a new device which will be assigned to them until grade 12.
    • Students in grades 10-12 will be assigned a chromebook during the first two weeks of school, if you are not bringing your own personal device to school.  Students will keep the same device until grade 12.

    Additionally, all students should confirm their school email and password BEFORE the school year starts.  If a student forgot the school email password, it can be reset by going to Classlink.  

    Any issues or concerns with a chromebook can be addressed by submitting a Help Desk Ticket.

     

    Para el año escolar 21-22, cada estudiante de Hendrick Hudson recibirá un Chromebook u otro dispositivo adecuado para usar durante el día escolar y en casa. 
    Se requerirá que los estudiantes K-8 usen un dispositivo proporcionado por Hendrick Hudson durante el día escolar. A los estudiantes de 9-12 se les asignará un dispositivo, pero pueden optar por traer su propio dispositivo. 


    Para poder recoger un nuevo dispositivo para el año escolar 2021-2022, todos los estudiantes y familias deben completar el Español Hen Hud One-to-One Chromebook Program Parent/Guardian Responsibility Form 2021-2022.     Se recomienda encarecidamente a todas las familias que compren un seguro para los Chromebook de sus estudiantes. El seguro está disponible a $ 32 por dispositivo, por año y cubre daños accidentales, pantalla rota, daños por líquidos, incendio, sobretensión, robo, vandalismo y más. La fecha límite para comprar cobertura de seguro es el 15 de noviembre de 2021.     Asignación de Chromebook por grado 

    • Los estudiantes en los grados K-5 recogerán sus Chromebooks asignados durante las primeras dos semanas de clases. 
    • Los estudiantes en los grados 6-8 deben continuar usando sus Chromebooks asignados previamente desde el año escolar 2020-2021.  
    • Los estudiantes de noveno grado recogerán sus Chromebooks asignados en la orientación de noveno grado o durante las dos primeras semanas de clases. 
    • Los estudiantes en los grados 10-12 deben continuar usando sus Chromebooks asignados previamente desde el año escolar 2020-2021.

    Si su estudiante almacenó un Chromebook durante el verano, se recomienda encarecidamente que el Chromebook esté encendido y conectado a Internet, para asegurarse de que todas las actualizaciones necesarias de Google estén instaladas ANTES de que comience el año escolar. Además, todos los estudiantes deben confirmar su correo electrónico y contraseña de la escuela ANTES de que comience el año escolar. Si un estudiante olvidó la contraseña del correo electrónico de la escuela, puede restablecerla yendo a Classlink


    Cualquier problema o inquietud con un Chromebook se puede resolver enviando un Ticket de la mesa de ayuda.


    * Todos los Chromebooks asignados permanecerán con cada estudiante hasta el final de los grados K, 4, 8 y 12. Al comienzo de los grados 1, 5 y 9, los estudiantes recibirán un nuevo Chromebook para conservar durante cuatro años.
