Grading Policies in the BMMS Orchestra Program
For each quarter, method book assignments, scales and orchestra excerpts will be evaluated. Assessment criteria include posture, both left/right hand position, bowing, pitch, shifting and expression.
Each student’s effort in the orchestra rehearsal is also assessed. The student must be attentive, focused, prepared with instrument and music and be able to play the repertoire to the best of their ability.
To arrive at the quarterly grade the performance assessments are averaged. This average makes up 50% of a student’s grade. The other 50% consists of the effort grade.
