Welcome to the Hendrick Hudson Elementary Music Department.
Our mission, as K-5 music educators, is to help each child in our diverse student body to reach his or her full musical potential, whether they are participating in classroom music or in one of the district’s large performing groups. Studies show that there is a positive correlation between music education and overall performance in school academics.
Music is part of the core curriculum in the Hendrick Hudson School District, and we are committed to the consistent application of proven educational techniques in order to bring each Hendrick Hudson student to a high level of achievement in each of the four New York State Learning Standards for the Arts.
Our program includes:
- General Music (K-5)
- Choral Music (grades 4 & 5)
- Strings/Band Instrumental opportunities for students in grades 4 & 5.

Concert Attendance Policy
All music students are required to perform at their assigned concerts as a part of the music curriculum. Concerts are treated as final exams, and students who fail to attend a concert may have their grade negatively impacted. In the event of an absence, the student may receive an alternate assignment
