Devys Rivera

I’m a community member, parent, and technology leader who cares deeply about our schools and the families they serve. In my career in healthcare IT, I’ve focused on solving problems, improving systems, and making sure people have the tools they need to succeed, something I believe is just as important in our schools.
My family and I made this community our home when we purchased our house in 2020, and it means a great deal to us. My son is a proud graduate of the Hendrick Hudson School District (2025), and my daughter currently attends Blue Mountain Middle School, so I see firsthand both the strengths of our schools and the opportunities to make them even better.
Giving back has always been important to me. I serve as a board member of the Cortlandt Community Volunteer Ambulance Corps, and I’ve also spent many hours volunteering at my daughter’s previous school as part of the Home and School Board. Whether it was designing flyers, helping organize fundraisers, or supporting events for students in grades K–8. I was actively involved in events at Hendrick Hudson High School while my son was a student. I’ve always tried to show up and contribute where I can.
I’m running for the Board of Education because I want to help strengthen communication, support our students and educators, and make sure our schools continue to grow and thrive. I believe in listening, working together, and always putting our kids first, but most importantly, transparency and consensus.
Tomica Dietrich

Fifteen years ago, I chose this community as the place to put down roots and raise my family, and I’ve never looked back. As a parent of a fifth grader, I know firsthand what it means to trust our schools with what matters most. That personal connection drives everything I do on the Board.
My involvement began as a PTA volunteer, including serving on the nominating committee, and grew into Board service, always grounded in one belief: every decision should put students first. With a strong focus on fiscal responsibility, I bring real budgeting experience to the Board, ensuring every dollar is spent wisely and in support of our students. Together, we passed two balanced budgets with over 79% community support and kept the tax levy under the state cap for two consecutive years.
I’m proud to have supported the hiring of our Superintendent, who has brought clear vision and steady leadership to our district, while strengthening the leadership team in key areas. I also supported the implementation of the Science of Reading program, a long-overdue shift already making a difference for our students.
As Vice President, I worked with our advocacy partners to bring state leaders into our schools, helping secure unprecedented support and opening doors to new funding opportunities.
I believe good governance starts with listening, and I remain committed to serving our community with integrity and transparency.
Antoinette Pio

I have been an active volunteer in our school community for over 15 years, serving as President of the Elementary PTA, the Hendrick Hudson Community Education Foundation, the Parents Community On Music, and the Football Parents Club. I am a first-generation Italian descendant, and a proud member of the Verplanck Ladies Auxiliary, Mount Carmel Ladies Auxiliary, and a volunteer for the Mount Carmel Italian Club. My educational background is in Student Nutrition and Child Care.
I was born and raised in Eastchester and moved to Yorktown at the age of 16. When I married my husband, a Hen Hud alumnus, we decided to move to Verplanck and raise our family. We have four sons, ranging in age from 7th grade to a sophomore in college. My boys have inspired me to be involved in Hen Hud athletics, music, arts, and Cortlandt National Little League. I have spent countless hours of volunteering in the school community as Chair of the Yearbook, Book Fair, Holiday Shop, and 5th Grade Committee. I am a co-founder of Breakfast with Frosty and Friends. I have raised thousands of dollars to fund grants and implement Cultural Enrichment programs, and I have shown strong leadership skills, especially during the reconfiguration of our elementary schools as PTA President.
I am passionate about education, Special Education, early literacy, and enhancing school safety protocols, all while being mindful of the struggles our community members face every day. I encourage community involvement in school decisions and foster transparent communication with all stakeholders. My priorities are to build trust, align educational objectives, and improve student outcomes while prioritizing fiscal management.
Amelia Silverman

I’m Amelia Silverman, and I’ve proudly called this community home for the past 12 years. My husband and I are raising our four children here, and they currently attend FWS, FGL, and BMMS. I’m a middle school math teacher with a Master of Science in Education, specializing in Special Education and Literacy. I’m deeply committed to education, service, and helping students reach their full potential.
Three years ago, this community entrusted me with the responsibility of serving on the Board of Education, and I am honored to seek your support for reelection. I remain committed to strengthening our schools and our community.
During my time on the Board, I have served on the leadership team as both Vice President and now President. One of our most important responsibilities was selecting and appointing our superintendent—work that will shape the future of our district for years to come. I have also been actively involved in reviewing, revising, and developing district policies, with more important work still ahead.
I’ve partnered with our advocacy team to pursue funding and expand resources through collaboration with local and state legislators, including efforts supporting Cessation Mitigation. I helped plan and advance a cost-neutral capital bond to improve our school facilities, while continuing to assess needs, prioritize projects, and evaluate costs. In addition, I worked to implement structured cabinet updates at Board meetings to better support student success and helped establish a line-by-line budget review process to ensure transparency and fiscal accountability.
There is still more to accomplish, and my commitment to this community is stronger than ever. I am dedicated to putting our district’s best interests first and would be honored to continue serving you.

Daniel Saleem

I’m Daniel Saleem, known to many in our community as Dan, and I’m running for the Hendrick Hudson School Board. As a proud 2022 graduate of Hen Hud, I’ve experienced firsthand where we can do better for our students and families.
Hen Hud has been my foundation for leadership and service. As one of the first student members of the 2022 Strategic Plan and a multi-year Student Government President, I worked with teachers and administrators to bring meaningful change to our schools. I helped organize our first homecoming dance, partnered with the PTSA to launch multicultural fairs, and advocated to reopen our high school theater after COVID. After graduating from Hen Hud, I had the honor to serve our country as a U.S. Army soldier. Afterwards, I studied Political Science and History at The George Washington University and worked for our district’s U.S. Congressman.
I’ve been a resident of this district for as long as I can remember. I live with my mom, a nursing professor at Pace University, my grandmother, my younger brother, a 2024 Hendrick Hudson graduate, and our Russian Blue kitten, Smokey. Beyond my work in the community, I serve on military funeral honor details, where I have the privilege of honoring and respectfully laying our veterans to rest.
My vision is simple: progress starts with who has a seat at the table.
I am committed to creating more opportunities for open communication across our entire community, not just those already engaged, but also those whose voices are too often left out. I understand the experience of growing up in a single-parent household. I recognize that community members without children still deserve a voice in the schools they support through their taxes. And as a member of our military, I’ve connected with and will continue to advocate for the veteran population in our town.
