In the Spring of 2016, the District completed its required five-year facilities plan, the Building Condition Survey (BCS).

A Building Condition Survey (BCS) is a visual inspection of all occupied school buildings conducted by a school district selected team that includes at least one architect or engineer. At a minimum, the survey assesses the current condition of all program spaces, plus major building and site systems and components. The intent of the survey is to assess these items for evidence of movement, deterioration, and structural failure, probable useful life, need for repair and maintenance, and/or need for replacement.

The New York State Commissioner’s Regulations for Educational Facilities require all public school districts and board of cooperative educational services (BOCES) to complete a BCS for occupied public school buildings every five years. Building Condition Survey Report

The BCS identified more than $55 million in needed improvements. Based on the BCS findings and for the past two years, the district began the process of prioritizing repairs throughout the district, in addition to addressing security at all five schools, the science classrooms and auditoriums in both the middle and high school, and the track and field at the high school. To ensure any capital project does not raise new taxes, we are working with a budget of $18,500,000. This is due to debt that the district will retire in the next 10 years.
