Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s),
Last Spring (2024), we engaged our elementary teachers through their grade level leaders and in
partnership with our ELA and Math coaches, to revise the K-5 report cards. The revisions shared here
have been finalized and appear as the January/June elementary report cards. It is anticipated that in
the 2025-2026 school year, the elementary schools will move to a Trimester Report Card, sharing
student progress towards the NYS standards in December, March and June.
The adoption of new K-5 curricula in ELA and Math, as well as a slight change in the NYS Learning
Standards prompted this action. What follows in this document is a brief explanation of the rubrics
teachers use for assessing student progress towards the standards in all content areas. Should you
have questions or concerns, they are best addressed by meeting with your child’s teacher.
I would like to thank the coaches, grade level leaders and classroom teachers who contributed to the
revision of the K-5 report cards.
