While Hendrick Hudson High School was recognized for an eighth consecutive year by Project Lead the Way — the only high school in New York State to receive that distinction in that time period — this year Blue Mountain Middle School was also honored. Blue Mountain was named a PLTW Distinguished Gateway School.

Students at all grade levels in the Hendrick Hudson School District participated in the "Hour of Code," a global event established to mark Computer Science Education Week, which fell on Dec. 4-10 this year.

With the help of funding from the HHCEF, the STEAM classroom at Furnace Woods Elementary School has been outfitted with new furniture. The colorful tables and chairs come in different configurations, allowing students options that can benefit those who prefer different styles of learning.

It was full steam ahead at Buchanan-Verplanck during the school’s first-ever S.T.E.A.M. week! Students at every grade level were immersed in hands-on activities covering such topics as heart health, robotics, electricity and the study of microorganisms. A highlight was when students from the high school’s PLTW Biomedical Science and Engineering programs stopped by!

A recent trip to Wheelabrator Technologies, the Bear Mountain Bridge and museum, and the new Popolopen Creek footbridge sparked the imagination of students in Alan Zollner’s Project Lead the Way classes at Hendrick Hudson High School.
