Safety Plan

Planning for school emergencies is critical to the safety and welfare of the members of the school community. National emergency incidents in the past have shown us that reacting to emergency situations cannot effectively take the place of an organized, planned response.

We take the health and safety of our students and staff as our number one priority. Our District-wide Safety Plan reflects that commitment and provides guidance to school personnel in handling a variety of emergency incidents. Any change to the District-wide Safety Plan requires a formal hearing.

Each year the district practices many different emergency drills. Each school has a Safety Team, and the district has a District-wide Safety Committee consisting of representatives from our various stakeholder groups, including parents, teachers, administrators, village officials, emergency responders, our police department and our medical staff. We are very fortunate to have a strong collaborative relationship with our police, fire and emergency responders.

Please be aware that the district plan provides an overview of our process – each school has its own plan that details specific, confidential information and individual student needs.
