Sustainability: Hen Hud is committed to a sustainable future.

  • The Hendrick Hudson School District is concerned about a sustainable future for our planet, and has joined with several organizations in Westchester County to bring this concept to life in our schools.

The Putnam Northern Westchester BOCES Education for Sustainability Curriculum Committee began writing curriculum for grades 6, 7, and 8 during the summer of 2008.  We sent a team of 6th grade teachers from Blue Mountain Middle School to participate in this writing, and now the curriculum is available in our middle school.  Last summer, three fifth grade teachers joined the second phase of the curriculum writing; students in each one of our elementary schools piloted the program during the 2009-2010 school year.

Finally, Mr. Fareed, who is a member of our community with a  deep commitment to our children and to our work with Education for Sustainability has formed a Foundation, the Opportunity Bridge Foundation, to support our work financially.  The Foundation's first donation of $5000 will support new projects for the fifth grade Sustainability work.
