About me!

Hi! My name is Tara Owen and I am so excited to be a part of the Hendrick Hudson School district. I currently reside in Cortlandt Manor with my husband, my three boys, and two dogs. I am a life-long resident and graduated from Lakeland School District, after which I went on to pursue my Bachelors in psychology at Albany State University and my Masters degree in Special Education from Hunter College. I earned the board certified behavior analyst designation in 2019.
I have been teaching for about 10 years now and love what I do. My first two years were spent working in a therapeutic day school in Arizona for students who were autistic, had developmental delays, and multiple disabilities. My last eight years were spent working in a therapeutic day school in the Bronx for the New York City Department of Education, where I was the classroom teacher in a 6:1:1 setting. We worked on individualized programs that included adapted daily living skills, individual academic goals, and behavior interventions. Working collaboratively as a team has always been a high priority for me and it will continue to be something I hope to foster this year.

I look forward to bringing all of my experience and education to the district, contributing to "Sailor Spirit," and having a phenomenal school year.
