While your child is in this class, he/she will develop and strengthen 21st century technology skills to incorporate into their academic environment as well as their environment outside of school. What are 21st century skills? The Partnership for 21st Century Skills define the skills here.

Strategy VIII, (p. 185) of the Strategic Plan for Hendrick Hudson School District, discusses the action plan for implementing 21st Century Learning Skills into the curriculum.

Students will be required, throughout their life, to analyze information available to them on the Internet as well as observe all terms of use of such information.  (P21)

Students will be required, throughout their life, to work collaboratively, to think on their feet, to solve problems as a member of a team or as the leader, to use all technology tools available to them in school and at work.  (P21)

Students will be required, throughout their life, to analyze, manage, integrate and create information using various types of media. (P21)

Students will be required, throughout their life, to understand, manage and create effective oral, written and multimedia communications. (P21)

Students will be required, throughout their life, to exercise good judgement when making complex choices. To make choices, students must know their options. (P21)

Students will be required, throughout their life, to develop, implement and communicate ideas to others using many forms of technology. Being open to the fact that their idea might not be the best solution, but that someone else's idea might.  (P21)

Students will be required, throughout their life, to assess their own understanding of things and to transfer that understanding to other areas. (P21)
