Blue Santa and Friends Pay Annual Visit to Elementary School Students
The students that lined the sidewalk were beaming, stretching their hands for high fives or waving to the line of visitors who dropped by to spread holiday cheer.
Although seeing Blue Santa and his friends — courtesy of the Westchester County Police Department — has become an annual tradition at our Hendrick Hudson elementary schools, students continued to be awed by the experience.
Blue Santa, the Grinch and more than a dozen elves and helpers arrived in police cars and trucks and even a trolley Tuesday morning to Buchanan-Verplanck, Frank G. Lindsey and Furnace Woods. They blared sirens and flashed flights while pulling into campus, then stopped the vehicles and visited with the students at each school. Blue Santa and the elves slapped the hands of children who lined up for them while the Grinch darted back and forth and even tested out a few dance moves.
This annual tradition is one of many holiday-themed activities on this week’s schedule before schools close Friday, Dec. 20 for holiday break.
