Career Day at Frank G. Lindsey Inspires Students

Sixteen different presenters visited Frank G. Lindsey Elementary School on March 21, 2025 for Career Day, discussing and demonstrating everything from police dog work to engineering, athletic training, music, forensics and much more.

Fifth graders spent the entire school day listening to the presentations, which lasted for approximately 30 minutes each. Third and fourth graders participated in Career Day for a half day before taking part in hands-on science activities the remainder of the day.
All materials for the projects were provided by the Hen Hud Elementary PTA and peer leaders from the high school visited to facilitate the activities. Third graders created catapults while fourth graders made “dirt cups” by layering treats in a cup to represent the layers of the earth.
The fifth-grade students each listened to eight different Career Day presentations. They had an opportunity to learn more about new and interest careers and engage with the presenters.
“Teachers told me that it was engaging and fun for all students and that they had a great experience,” said Megan Boyle, the STEAM teacher at Frank G. Lindsey, who helped organize the event. “On Monday, I had three students tell me that they want to be water engineers because of one of the presenters!”
