Eighth Graders Participate in Team-Building Activities on Field Trip
On Monday, September 23, 2024, eighth-grade students at Blue Mountain Middle School enjoyed an all-day trip to Sharpe Reservation in Fishkill. The students were involved in team-building activities that brought them together to work on solving problems and completing tasks.
The activities included students guiding one another safely through the woods while blindfolded and organizing a strategy for all group members to balance on a moving platform or move through a hanging tire. The students also played a predator-prey game, working together as a unit to simulate gathering enough “food,” “water” and “shelter” to avoid “predators” in order to “survive.”
The weather cooperated and students were able to enjoy and appreciate the beautiful setting along the lake. Sharpe Reservation is a 2,000-acre preserve that allows for outdoor educational activities.
“Thank you to all the chaperones, PTA leaders, cafeteria and office staff, and parents for making this such a successful experience for the students,” eighth-grade teacher Amy Deegan said.
