Elementary School Gyms Transformed for Annual Book Fairs

Earlier this month, the gymnasiums at Buchanan-Verplanck and Furnace Woods Elementary Schools were transformed into vibrant, student-centered spaces for the annual Scholastic Book Fair, which was organized at both schools by members of the Hen Hud Elementary PTA. The book fairs allowed young students to explore new books and to build their excitement for reading.

Book Fair Chairs Jessica Berbeck, Kara Nielsen and Myrtha Marrero organized these successful events. Their efforts, along with the support of staff, families and volunteers, helped create a welcoming and memorable experience for our elementary students.

“Thank you to everyone for continuing to support promoting literacy and for providing meaningful opportunities for our students to grow as readers,” said Marrero, the PTA Vice President at Buchanan-Verplanck.

The PTA will host one more book fair at Frank G. Lindsey Elementary School from June 2-4, 2025.
