Frank G. Lindsey Builds a Positive Classroom Community Through Math Project
To start the 2024-25 school year, Frank G. Lindsey Elementary School teachers kicked off math lessons with an engaging line plot project. The project fostered a collaborative classroom environment as students collected class data and created and analyzed line plots to visualize their findings.
“Line plots can be challenging for young learners due to the need for precise data collection, understanding the scale, and interpreting visual information,” said Michelle Karwowski, Hendrick Hudson’s Elementary Instructional Math Coach. “However, this hands-on project allowed students to connect with the concept in a meaningful way, building their confidence and excitement for future math exploration.”
Karwowski said that by working together and sharing insights with one another, Frank G. Lindsey students are now eager to dive deeper into the world of data representation. This is only the beginning!
