Frank G. Lindsey Fifth Graders Celebrate Moving Up to Middle School
Frank G. Lindsey Elementary School proudly celebrated its fifth grade class during a Moving Up Ceremony held on Monday, June 22, in the Hendrick Hudson High School gymnasium. Family members, friends, and district leaders gathered to honor the students as they marked the completion of their elementary school journey.
Principal Anecia McGill hosted the ceremony, which was attended by Superintendent of Schools Michael A. Tromblee, Assistant Superintendents Dr. Lauren Scollins and Christopher Moreno, and Board of Education trustees.
The ceremony began with a student procession, followed by Riley Tejada leading the Pledge of Allegiance. Classmates Josephina Iandoli and Mabel Pavlopoulos performed the Star-Spangled Banner under the direction of Juliet Boomhower.
In her remarks, Principal McGill recognized the support of families and the dedication of faculty and staff, while encouraging students as they prepare for the transition to Blue Mountain Middle School.
“We believe in you,” Mrs. McGill told the students. “We are proud of you, and we are excited to see what the world looks like in 15 years because of the impact you are going to make.”
The ceremony also included recognition of retiring teacher Kathy Fucheck, a proud Frank G. Lindsey and Hendrick Hudson alumna and outgoing member of the fifth-grade team.
“Every day I tried to be the type of teacher that I would want my own children to have,” said Mrs. Fucheck, who is set to retire after 34 years. “Hendrick Hudson has been part of my life for 49 years as a student, a parent, a teacher and community member — and hopefully one day as a grandparent.”
The fifth-grade teachers then called each student to the stage to receive their certificate, marking the culmination of their elementary school experience. Students were also presented with celebratory gifts, which, along with decorations, were provided by the Fifth Grade Committee.
As the ceremony concluded with a final round of applause, the Frank G. Lindsey fifth graders walked back to their school to pose for photos with family and friends. Congratulations to our students, who are officially ready to begin their next chapter as Blue Mountain Middle School students.
