With the first batch of applications due soon for high school seniors, the college admissions process is at the forefront of students’ minds at Hendrick Hudson High School. However, for younger students who are beginning to think about their futures, the district’s Guidance Department held a College Fair on Friday, Oct. 10 that welcomed more than 30 colleges, trade schools and military/law enforcement agencies to the school cafeteria.

The school’s third annual College Fair was held during student lunch periods. Students were able to tour the room and talk to various representatives. The visitors also had information and giveaways for students who stopped by to chat.

“Some of our younger students are just beginning to think about their futures,” said Dr. Aaron Kleinman, the district’s Director of Guidance. “By hosting this fair, the students who are here have an opportunity to gain that exposure.”

During the event, students were seen going from table to table to ask questions and provide their contact information to the representatives.

Dr. Kleinman said the College Fair could be the first step for some Hendrick Hudson students to consider the variety of options available.

“This is the college season,” he said. “I think it’s good that we are able to create an atmosphere where students can learn more about colleges and the other organizations here.”
