Hendrick Hudson's new Unified Flag Football team held its first practice Sept. 15, 2025.

A new sport began at Hendrick Hudson High School on Monday, Sept. 15, 2025, when the first-year Unified Flag Football team held its first practice. Under the direction of coach Will Loftin, the Sailors spent their first training session working on both their skills and their touchdown dances!

Hendrick Hudson's new Unified Flag Football team held its first practice Sept. 15, 2025.

The team is now the third Section One-sanctioned Unified program offered at Hendrick Hudson, joining bowling in the winter and basketball in the spring. Hen Hud is among just six teams from the region that are scheduled to participate in the Section One Unified Flag Kickoff Clinic on Sept. 30 at MetLife Stadium, the home of the Giants and Jets.

The Sailors will be joined by Byram Hills, Greenburgh-North Castle, Irvington, Mahopac and Somers.

"We are extremely excited about starting a unified flag football team this year at Hen Hud," Mr. Loftin said. "Our incredible athletes are learning a new sport and growing together as a team. Our first practice was a huge success! Each player has their own unique touchdown dance they will hopefully get to do when we play at MetLife at the end of this month. We are still scheduling our other games, so keep an eye out for when the Sailors bring their energy to our home turf!"
