Hendrick Hudson Celebrates Class of 2026 During Commencement Ceremony
In a event marked by celebration and reflection, the Hendrick Hudson School District honored its graduating Class of 2026 during the annual Commencement Ceremony, held the evening of Thursday, June 25 on the high school turf.
As graduates looked out from the bleachers at family, friends and community members gathered below, the ceremony carried a dual sense of accomplishment — recognizing both the students’ achievements and the district’s 100-year legacy of education.
“The past 100 years of this high school have been written by those who have come before you, but tomorrow belongs to you,” said Michael A. Tromblee, Superintendent of Schools. “Please, whatever path you choose, remember that every choice you make is a stone in the foundation of the legacy you are building.”
Principal Lisa Martino Alves also addressed the graduates, welcoming them into the next chapter of their lives while reminding them of the enduring connection they share with the Hendrick Hudson community.
“For 100 years, Hendrick Hudson has helped students find their footing, adjust their stance, and set a course for what comes next,” she said. “Today, Class of 2026, it is your turn to carry that spirit forward.”
The ceremony was led by Master of Ceremonies Katarina Carvalho, who guided her classmates through the evening’s milestones. Valedictorian Braxton Schultz and Salutatorian Victor Delgado delivered remarks that reflected on their shared experiences and the people who supported them along the way.
Schultz urged his classmates to take risks in the pursuit of excellence.
“Try the thing that scares you. Make mistakes worth making. Trust yourself to keep going, even when things don’t go according to plan,” he said. “Because one day, years from now, I hope we’ll all be able to look back at our lives and say, ‘They weren’t perfect, but they were excellent.’”
The ceremony also featured musical performances that added to the significance of the evening. Alexandra Numeroff performed the National Anthem, and Liam Crook delivered a rendition of “You Walk with Me.”
Board of Education Trustee Erica Mills and Superintendent Tromblee addressed the graduates, both noting the unique distinction of being part of a graduating class during the district’s Centennial year.
“The students of 1926 helped shape the school you inherited,” Mrs. Mills said. “Now it is your turn to carry its values forward and help shape what comes next. Hendrick Hudson will always be a part of your history, and you will always be a part of ours.”
Following the addresses, students were presented with their diplomas by Assistant Principal Nick Katsaris and Assistant Superintendent Dr. Lauren Scollins, officially marking their transition from students to alumni.
After all graduates had received their diplomas, they were directed to move their tassels from right to left, symbolizing the completion of their high school journey. The ceremony concluded with the traditional cap toss, celebrating both the Class of 2026 and their place in Hendrick Hudson’s 100-year history.
“Please honor the past, embrace the present, and step forward to make your legacy one of purpose, integrity, and boundless hope,” Mr. Tromblee said. “Congratulations, graduates. We are incredibly proud of you, and we look forward to the beautiful future and legacy you will create.”
