Hendrick Hudson Represented by 17 Musicians at All-County Festival
The Hendrick Hudson Music Department is proud to announce that 17 Hendrick Hudson students were selected for the Westchester All-County Festival, which will be held on March 8-9, 2025 at New Rochelle High School. Students from Hendrick Hudson High School, Blue Mountain Middle School and Frank G. Lindsey Elementary School were selected to perform in the Elementary Chorus and Intermediate Band, Orchestra and Chorus.
The students began their All-County rehearsals on Monday at New Rochelle High School. They will travel to New Rochelle again on March 4 for a second rehearsal, then the Band and Orchestra ensembles will perform in a concert on March 8 and the Choruses will perform in their concert on March 9.
Each year, the Westchester All-County Band and Orchestra are composed of the top student musicians on each instrument from schools across the county. Students are required to audition for the ensembles by performing solos and technical skills at the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) Solo Festival each spring.
These NYSSMA-level scores and teacher recommendations — which include a student’s character, maturity and musical ability — are submitted for review by the Westchester County School Music Association board.
For the Chorus, students are selected based on teacher nomination and must meet certain criteria, both musically and behaviorally. Each school is permitted to send one duet or one trio, depending on grade level. When recommending students, their teachers choose hard-working musicians who are responsible and respectful. The students must be committed to practicing their music and can be counted on to contribute to the honor ensembles in a positive manner.
