Hendrick Hudson Schools Welcome Back Students for 2025-26 School Year

With big smiles for teachers and high fives and hugs for friends, Hendrick Hudson students returned enthusiastic and energized for the 2025-26 school year.

Tuesday, Sept. 2 marked the first day of school for students at all five schools in the district. Hendrick Hudson High School and Blue Mountain Middle School had a full day, while students at the district’s three elementary schools were dismissed after a half day. Elementary students will return to a full-day schedule beginning Wednesday, Sept. 3.

“The first day of school is always a special time filled with excitement, smiles and endless possibilities,” said Michael A. Tromblee, Hendrick Hudson’s Superintendent of Schools. “It was wonderful to see parents sharing such meaningful moments with their children, smiling students eager to see friends and begin their year, and our dedicated employees already supporting and encouraging our learners.”

Hendrick Hudson also welcomed new principals at the high school and middle school. At Hendrick Hudson High School, principal Lisa Martino Alves met individually with each grade level for an introductory town hall. At Blue Mountain Middle School, Dr. William X. Toro also met with each grade level to get acquainted with students and set expectations for the year.

At the elementary schools, Mr. Tromblee, joined by fellow administrators and countless staff members, greeted students and provided a guiding hand as the new year began.

“As we welcomed everyone back, we were reminded of our mission to ensure that every child becomes an engaged, passionate learner who achieves their maximum potential,” Mr. Tromblee said. “The joy and celebration across our schools reflect the high expectations we hold for one another as we begin another year of learning and growth.”
