Hendrick Hudson Senior Chloe Howard Earns Prestigious ConEd Honor
Congratulations to Hendrick Hudson’s Chloe Howard, a senior track and field star who was named the Con Edison Athlete of the Week.

Howard recently won the 1500-meter racewalk at the Westchester County Championships by a full minute in a time of 7:36.7. She also recently earned a league championship in the event, placing first in a field of 26 runners.
Howard shattered the school record with a time of 7:27.03 in the 1500-meter racewalk earlier this season. She is currently ranked No. 1 in Section One and in Westchester County in the event.
“Chloe is one of the most dedicated athletes I have coached in my 50-plus year career,” coach Marcia Bailey said. “Doing the racewalk is not easy. Chloe has become a student of the event, networking with fellow competitors, and former racewalkers and coaches across the nation. She trains above and beyond what a normal high school athlete does and is a true ambassador for her event. She competes and trains year-round. She decided to leave our soccer team this fall to run cross-country so that she could get herself in even better shape for the longer walk events that she will encounter on the national level. Her training has already paid off.”
Howard is a four-time competitor at Indoor Nike Nationals. She placed ninth last year in the 5000-meter walk at the prestigious Penn Relays and won the 1500-meter walk the last two springs at the New York Relays.
The three-time Westchester County champion has already been named all-section four times, all-county five times and all-league nine times during her high school track and field career. The two-season captain has served as a mentor for six teammates training in the challenging race walk and has volunteered at Hen Hud-hosted modified track and field meets throughout her four years in high school.
As a student, Howard, who will attend Ursinus College, carries a 94.3 grade-point average while being enrolled in AP And college-level courses. She is a member of the National Honor Society, Art Honor Society, Science Honor Society and, as serves as secretary of the Spanish Honor Society, and has been active as a community volunteer.
“Chloe is driven, versatile, and accomplished,” her counselor, Heather McGowan, said. “She stands out not only for her academic excellence but also for her leadership, work ethic, and ability to succeed across multiple demanding commitments. What sets Chloe apart is her ability to excel in every arena she enters while remaining grounded, kind and collaborative. She is a role model in our community, a scholar, athlete, leader, and mentor.”
