Hendrick Hudson to Appoint Ms. Lauren Habib Scollins as Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction & Assessment
Superintendent of Schools Michael A. Tromblee is proud to announce the selection of Ms. Lauren Habib Scollins as Hendrick Hudson’s new Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction & Assessment.

“I am honored to continue serving the Hendrick Hudson School District in this new role,” said Ms. Scollins, who is currently in her second year as the principal at Hendrick Hudson High School. “Over the past three years, I’ve had the unique opportunity to view our district through multiple lenses, deepening my understanding of our strengths and opportunities.”
With the pending retirement of Dr. Margaret Ruller at the end of June, the district embarked on a national search for an exceptional replacement on Nov. 1, 2024. Following a series of focus groups and surveys of teachers, administrators, parents, and community members, the district developed a leadership profile for the next Assistant Superintendent.
Mr. Tromblee and his cabinet reviewed 105 applicants and screened 28 candidates. Nine of the candidates were selected to be interviewed by a stakeholder committee that consisted of 16 teachers, administrators, students, and community members. Four candidates were selected as semifinalists, and they each met with the Superintendent’s cabinet again. Three finalists were chosen, and they were interviewed on April 9, 2025 by the Hendrick Hudson Board of Education.
After an exhaustive review, Mr. Tromblee selected Ms. Scollins, who will lead the essential work of teaching and learning in the school district beginning on July 1, 2025. The Board of Education is slated to approve Mr. Tromblee’s recommendation on April 22, 2025.
“Ms. Scollins is an exceptional leader, and has demonstrated tremendous abilities to develop relationships while holding others accountable,” Mr. Tromblee said. “There was great competition among the applicants for this position. However, I believe Ms. Scollins’ strength of character and instructional practice is the perfect combination needed to lead this important work into the future.”
“I am committed to supporting high-quality pedagogy and fostering student-centered learning experiences,” Ms. Scollins added. “I look forward to partnering with the entire school community to ensure every Hendrick Hudson student finds success.”
Prior to her two years as Hendrick Hudson High School’s principal, Ms. Scollins served one year in the same role at Blue Mountain Middle School. She had previously spent 13 years with Croton-Harmon Schools, serving in several roles: Assistant Principal at Pierre Van Cortlandt Middle School; Curriculum Coordinator for the Science department; grade-level leader; sixth-grade Math and Science teacher; and second-grade teacher.
With a wealth of experience in pedagogy, Ms. Scollins is a professionally certified elementary education teacher with a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Teaching from Teachers College, Columbia University. Ms. Scollins holds a Professional Certificate in School Building Level and District Level Educational Leadership from Manhattanville College. She is poised to defend her dissertation later this year in the Educational Leadership, Administration and Policy doctoral program at Fordham University. Additionally, Ms. Scollins is a National Board Certified Teacher as a Middle Childhood Generalist. She is particularly interested in interdisciplinary learning experiences and data-driven instruction.
Ms. Scollins lives in Croton-on-Hudson with her husband, Sean, and her two German Shepherds. She spends her free time boating on the Hudson River and in the British Virgin Islands; running; and spending time with her nieces, nephews, and large extended family.
The district is developing a plan to search for a highly qualified candidate to replace Ms. Scollins at Hendrick Hudson High School. Ms. Scollins will be an active participant in the review process.
