Hendrick Hudson's Paige Montgomery Named ConEd Winner

Hen Hud's Paige Montgomery was named ConEd Athlete of the Week.

Hendrick Hudson senior Paige Montgomery was named the ConEdison Athlete of the Week for the week of Oct. 14-20, 2024.

Montgomery, a team captain now in her fifth year as a starter on the Hen Hud varsity tennis team, qualified for Section 1's Individual Tournament and led her team to the semifinals of Section 1's Team Tournament. Prior to the postseason, she also helped the Sailors (16-0) win a league championship and complete the regular season undefeated for the first time since 2007.

Montgomery is a two-sport all-Section 1 athlete who has also thrived on the lacrosse field. She has played both attack and midfield and has already surpassed the 200-point and 100-goal milestones for her career. She was also named a lacrosse captain.

Outside of interscholastic competition, Montgomery has served as an instructor for Hen Hud's Adaptive Tennis program and volunteered as a lacrosse and tennis coach at youth clinics. She founded Hendrick Hudson's Pickleball Club and the Special Olympics Peer Leadership program. She also organized a Special Olympics floor hockey tournament that included other local schools and members of the local community.

"She's also worked extensively with our self-contained special needs classrooms, and tutored countless students in a multitude of subjects," physical education teacher and tennis coach Bradley Fredman said. "In an era when sports have become specialized at such an increasingly young age, Paige is one of a small percentage of multi-sport stars, and her impact is and will be felt by generations of Hen Hud athletes."
