Hendrick Hudson’s Victor Delgado Honored as Athlete of the Week

Congratulations to Hendrick Hudson senior Victor Delgado, who was recently chosen by Con Edison as its Athlete of the Week.

Victor has been a record-breaking student-athlete for the Sailors; he holds the school record for every cross-country course in the region as well as the top mark for indoor and spring track races in the 1,600 and 3,200 meters.

Victor recently won the CHSAA invitational at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx after finishing the 2.5-mile course in 12:48.4. The time is the fastest on the famed course in Section One this year and the 20th-best ever in Westchester County dating back to 1966.

Victor is a team captain and is a member of Hendrick Hudson’s National Honor Society, Math Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society.

“Victor is a very driven young man academically and athletically,” Athletic Director Tom Baker said. “He takes all of the hardest, most demanding courses that Hen Hud offers and he loves the challenge of learning. He has become a fantastic role model for all of the runners on our team.”
