Kaitlyn Raguso Named ConEd Athlete of the Week

Congratulations to Hendrick Hudson senior Kaitlyn Raguso, who was named this week’s ConEdison Athlete of the Week.

Kaitlyn Raguso was named a ConEdison Athlete of the Week.

Raguso is a five-year member of the varsity girls basketball team who has twice been named All-Section 1. She has been named All-League every season of her varsity career.

The three-year captain enters the weekend with 1,426 career points, ranking her among the leading scorers in program history, and currently averages 14.5 points, 8.2 rebounds and 3.2 steals per game this season for the Sailors.

“Kaitlyn Raguso is not only one of the finest basketball players to ever walk the halls of Hendrick Hudson; she is one of the finest students overall,” Athletic Director Tom Baker said. “She is always one of the happiest students in the building, welcoming all to be a part of her happiness. She has completely dedicated herself to becoming the best basketball player that she can be.”

As a junior last season, Raguso, who scored a career-high 37 points in a quarterfinal playoff game against Irvington, helped guide Hen Hud to an appearance at the Westchester County Center. After a semifinal victory, the Sailors earned a berth in the Section 1 Class A championship game.

Raguso has committed to play basketball and study nursing at the University of Scranton.

Raguso has also lettered in volleyball, field hockey and girls lacrosse during her Hen Hud tenure. She serves as a peer leader, works with the school’s unified basketball teams, and is a high honor roll student who carries a 95.4 average. Raguso is a member of the National Honor Society, Italian Honor Society and Math Honor Society.

Her leadership on and off the court has been evident and made a positive impact on the Hen Hud community.

“Kaitlyn’s leadership skills have grown immensely over the past few years,” Baker said. “She is the constant leader for her teams, driving them to be better while keeping a smile on her face and enjoying every moment of her time.”
