Longtime Athletic Director Tom Baker Bids Farewell After 34 Years in Hendrick Hudson

After 34 years in Hendrick Hudson, including the last 24 as the athletic director, Tom Baker penned a goodbye letter to the Sailor community:

Dear Hendrick Hudson Community:

Beginning in September 1992, I embarked on the most wonderful career in the Hendrick Hudson School District. After teaching math for 10 years, I was appointed as the Director of Physical Education, Health and Athletics in July 2002. Throughout my entire time here at Hendrick Hudson, I truly loved being part of the community and being a Hen Hud Sailor. I want to thank this tremendous and caring community for embracing me and allowing me to be a Sailor!

I can fondly look back at the past 34 years and reflect on some of my most memorable experiences and the best relationships one can ask for. Those are experiences and relationships that will last a lifetime. I was truly blessed to have worked with the greatest coaching staff. All of our coaches throughout the years genuinely cared for our student-athletes and always went above and beyond for them. Meg Greiner and Nicole Laureti in the athletic office are simply the best! Working alongside them for the past 24 years has been extremely rewarding. Both of them care deeply about this community and I have always applauded them for their dedication to not only the athletic department but the entire community as a whole.

Of course, the fondest memories of my career will always center around the students. It has been so gratifying for me to connect with the thousands of students that I was blessed to have as part of my journey. I cannot express how much I will miss all of you. Thank you for being at the forefront of my path and for always representing the Hendrick Hudson community in such a positive manner!

I am a better person for being part of this wonderful community. Thank you to all of the Sailors who helped shape this unbelievable journey for me. My time as a Hendrick Hudson Sailor has been the most wonderful time of my life!

My heart is full of Sailor Pride. With so much gratitude and appreciation, I say thank you Hendrick Hudson! This community will always hold a special place in my heart.
