Sailor Indoor Track & Field Completes a Record-Breaking Season

Hen Hud's Sprint Medley Relay broke a school record.

The Hendrick Hudson Indoor Track & Field team ended its season at the 2025 Nike Indoor Nationals, where junior Victor Delgado finished an impressive fourth place in the emerging elite division of the 3,000-meter and 2-mile races. His time of 9:15.65 was the fastest in the 2-mile run by any athlete in the state this season.

Delgado, who then ran his final race Sunday at the New Balance Nationals in Boston, was one of several Sailors in competition at Nike Indoor Nationals. The weekend capped a record-breaking season for Delgado and several of his teammates.

Delgado, who set multiple school records during cross-country season, established new school marks in the following events this winter: 1,600 meters; 3,000 meters; 3,200 meters; 1-mile run; and 2-mile run. He also teamed with juniors Kenny Mora, Matthew Sullivan and Theo Tieche to break the school record in the Sprint Medley Relay.

Delgado wasn’t the team’s only record-breaking athlete this winter. Freshman Sophia Savatgy established new Hen Hud records in the 55 meters, 200 meters, 300 meters and 400 meters. Junior Chloe Howard broke the record in the 1,500-meter race walk.

Delgado (1,600), Howard (1,500 race walk), Savatgy (55 meters), sophomore Oona McManus (high jump) and sophomore Perry Quaye (high jump) all qualified for the New York State Track & Field Championships, which were held at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex on Staten Island.

Joining Delgado (1 mile, 2 mile and the Sprint Medley Relay with Mora, Sullivan and Tieche) at Nike Indoor Nationals were: junior Lexi Corcoran (1-mile race walk), Howard (1-mile race walk), McManus (high jump) and Savatgy (60 and 400 meters).

Oona McManus was one of several Hen Hud athletes to compete at the 2025 Nike Indoor Nationals.
