Senator Harckham Delivers $1 Million Grant to Hendrick Hudson

Although he visited Hendrick Hudson High School for an engaging Town Hall with students, State Senator Pete Harckham also left behind more than just his insights into New York’s state government.

On Oct. 9, 2025 in the school’s library, Senator Harckham presented the students with a check to symbolize the state’s $1 million grant to the Hendrick Hudson School District. The additional funds will go directly to supporting students by helping to offset a loss of revenue stemming from the closure of Indian Point.
“Hendrick Hudson thanks Senator Harckham for his continued support of our school district,” said Michael A. Tromblee, Hendrick Hudson’s Superintendent of Schools. “I am also very appreciative of the collective efforts of our community, which continues to advocate for the needs of our district. These funds will support our students, who, as always, are central to our mission at Hendrick Hudson.”
Mr. Tromblee attended the Town Hall with Principal Lisa Martino Alves; Interim Assistant Superintendent for Business Jill Figarella; Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources and Leadership Development Dr. Steven Garcia; Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction Lauren Scollins; Hendrick Hudson Education Association President James Rogulski; Lisa Anderson of the PTA Advocacy Committee; Resource Development Liaison Beth Gruber; and Board of Education Trustees Cori Boudin, Tomica Dietrich, Erica Mills, and Lauren Stanco.
“We are committed to all of you,” Senator Harckham said. “I work for all of you.”
Harckham, who serves the state’s 40th Senate District, visited Hendrick Hudson in June 2024 to deliver a previous $1 million grant. In this visit, which included a Q&A session with students, Harckham highlighted the importance of partnerships in state government, whether they are formed with former lawmakers or members of the communities he serves.
He also encouraged the students to remain involved in advocating for their community. He said the role of government is to support constituents and strive toward a brighter future.
“That’s why we do what we do. This impacts you,” Senator Harckham said. “Hopefully, we can help leave the world a better place than we found it.”
