Two Hendrick Hudson Alumni are an Integral Part of Off-Broadway Production

Two Hendrick Hudson alumni are currently helping lead the Off-Broadway production of Masquerade, the dazzling new spinoff of the legendary Broadway musical The Phantom of the Opera.
Claire Leyden (Class of 2012) serves as the understudy for every female role in the production, including the lead role of Christine Daaé. On Sunday, Oct. 5, Hendrick Hudson High School Chorus Director Erica Denler attended a performance with Ms. Leyden in the role and described the experience as both breathtaking and emotional.
“Watching Claire command the stage and hearing her stunning, pure voice soar so effortlessly was truly unforgettable,” Mrs. Denler said.
Evan Bernardin (Class of 2009) serves as the show’s Executive producer and General Manager, and has been instrumental in guiding every business, financial and operational decision since the project’s inception.
Both he and Ms. Leyden have helped bring Masquerade to life.
“Seeing two of our own making their mark — one behind the scenes and one in the spotlight — was an incredible reminder of the talent, dedication, and heart that began right here at Hendrick Hudson High School,” Mrs. Denler said. “This teacher is beyond proud!”
