Announced 12/15/2023:Starting in September of 2024, Dr. Cynthia Kramer will lead the Buchanan-Verplanck Elementary School (K-2), Mr. Joshua Cohen will lead the Furnace Woods Elementary School (K-2), and Mr. James Mackin will lead the Frank G. Lindsey Elementary School (3-5)

The elementary schools reconfiguration will go into effect for the 2024-25 school year.

Buchanan-Verplanck Elementary School and Furnace Woods Elementary School will both serve students from kindergarten through second grade. Frank G. Lindsey Elementary School will be dedicated to all of the district’s students in third through fifth grade.

Buchanan-Verplanck will serve students residing west of Route 9 and in the area in and about Montrose Station Road, east of Route 9. That will include but not be limited to Oak Road, College Hill, and Travis Lane.

Furnace Woods will serve students residing east of Route 9, with the exception of those included in the area indicated above.

The district anticipates the ability to host pre-kindergarten programs in both Buchanan-Verplanck and Furnace Woods. In most cases, pre-kindergarten students would attend the same school they would attend during kindergarten through second grade — based on the location of their residence.

Additional information about Hendrick Hudson’s pre-kindergarten offerings will be available in the coming weeks and months.

Decisions related to transportation have not been completed, but they will be communicated to members of the school community upon being finalized.
