HHHS Senior Taeghan Dapson Recognized as Con Edison Athlete of the Week
Hendrick Hudson High School senior Taeghan Dapson has been named a Con Edison Athlete of the Week. The award recognizes students for outstanding athletic and academic accomplishments, as well as leadership and a commitment to community service.
With a 98.34 GPA, Taeghan has completed a rigorous curriculum and succeeded during her time at HHHS. Said Athletic Director Tom Baker, “Taeghan exemplifies what it means to be a ‘student-athlete.’”
A four-year starter for the school’s softball team, Taegan has been a tremendous asset since her first year as a Sailor, and this year she has played a key role in the team succeeding in one of the most challenging schedules in Section One. A standout at center field, she has received All-League and All Section Honorable Mention recognition
A member of the Math Honor Society, the Hispanic Honor Society and the National Honor Society, Taeghan has been named to the High Honor Roll at the high school every semester since ninth grade. High Honor Roll requires an average of at least 90%, with no grade below 85%.
Community service has played a big part of Taeghan’s high school career, as well. She coordinated her travel softball team’s holiday gift drive for Maria Fereri’s Children’s Hospital, helped coordinate collection and delivery of Thanksgiving meals to local food pantries for distribution; participated in the high school’s Relay for Life event to raise money for cancer research, and has been a program director for the Hendrick Hudson field hockey camp.
“Taeghan’s success on and off the field is a result of her commitment, perseverance and dedication,” said Baker. “If there was ever a student who deserved an award as prestigious as the Con Edison Athlete of the Week award, it is this absolutely remarkable young woman.”
