High School and Middle School Musicians Earn High Honors at Music in the Parks Festival

Both Hendrick Hudson High School and Blue Mountain Middle School student musicians traveled to Agawam, MA to participate in the Music in the Parks competition, and both achieved impressive results. The students also had the opportunity to enjoy a fun-filled day at Six Flags New England.

The high school ensembles, led by Ben Acrish, Erica Denler and Lauren Morabito, received the following ratings and places:

BAND

Wind Ensemble - Rating of SUPERIOR - 2nd place

CHORUS

Treble Makers - Rating of SUPERIOR - 1st place

Harmonizers - Rating of SUPERIOR - 1st place

Concert Choir - Rating of EXCELLENT - 1st place

Harmonizers - HIGHEST SCORING CHOIR OF THE DAY

Amya Davis - MOST OUTSTANDING SOLOIST

ORCHESTRA

Concert Orchestra -  Rating of EXCELLENT - 1st place 

Chamber Orchestra - Rating of EXCELLENT - 4th place

The Blue Mountain Middle School 8th grade band, accompanied by music teacher Katherine Filatov, also traveled to Agawam, MA to perform in the Music in the Parks festival. The band’s performance earned the student musicians an Excellent rating and second place out of all the middle school bands competing. The middle school students also enjoyed their time at the Six Flags theme park.
