A Letter from the Superintendent

Dear Hendrick Hudson Families:

It is with great sadness that I must inform you that a Hendrick Hudson High School student passed away overnight.  We have been in constant communication with our local law enforcement partners regarding this matter, and they have just advised us that we may share this news with the school community. While we are not in a position to release any further details at this time, we know that students and staff have been hearing about this tragedy through social media and other channels of communication.

The district’s mental health team has been available all day for students and staff at each school building to assist those in need of support.  Additionally, the Regional Crisis Team, facilitated by Putnam | Northern Westchester BOCES, has been activated. Counseling will be available for students and staff tomorrow and Saturday, from 10 am to 2pm, in the high school library.

We are shocked and saddened by this news and know that our tight knit school community will be deeply impacted by this loss. We will take every step possible to be responsive to the needs of our students and families. When permitted by our law enforcement partners, we will provide additional updates.

Regards,

Joseph E. Hochreiter

Superintendent
