Hen Hud senior Jonathan Chung was recognized as a Con Edison Athlete of the Week last week. The award recognizes students in Westchester and Putnam for athletic excellence, academic achievements, leadership, citizenship, and school and community involvement. The winner is selected each week by a panel of athletic directors and coaches who review ballots submitted by each athlete’s athletic director or coach.
Jonathan began playing tennis at the age of five, and has been a starter on the Hendrick Hudson varsity tennis team since eighth grade. He was named to All Section the past two years and volunteers at a summer tennis camp for children with special needs.
“Jonathan's tireless work ethic in the classroom, in the concert hall, and on the tennis court is absolutely inspiring,” said tennis coach Bradley Fredman. “He is a tremendous leader, competitor, and role model for future generations of Hen Hud tennis players, and I am truly grateful for having had the opportunity to coach this remarkable young man.”
With plans to attend Princeton University in the fall, Jonathan says that he hopes to play on the university’s club team. A recent finalist in the Regeneron Science Talent Search, Jonathan is considering chemistry, operations research and financial engineering as possible areas of study at Princeton.
