Earlier this month, two Hendrick Hudson High School musicians performed with the NAfME (National Association for Music Education) All Eastern Honor Choir in Atlantic City, NJ. Senior Ellen Gruber and junior Amelia Bisaccia traveled with high school chorus teacher Mrs. Denler to Atlantic City, joining 350 other highly talented high school singers from up and down the east coast to perform under the direction of renowned choral conductor Tom Seelig.
Upon their arrival on April 5, the students immediately began rehearsing, and they continued to do so for three consecutive days, practicing morning, noon, and night. On Saturday, April 8, they performed in a concert at the Adrian Phillips Ballroom in the Historic Boardwalk Hall.
This is the first time that Hendrick Hudson has had students represented in the NAfME All Eastern Honor Choir. “It is a very selective and competitive process,” said Mrs. Denler. “To have two students accepted in one year is a huge honor, and I couldn’t be more proud of these two extremely deserving young women.”
