Students and Staff Go Red to Support Heart Health

Once again, Frank G. Lindsey’s Go Red celebration capped a week of activities in the school aimed at raising funds for, and awareness of, heart health. Proceeds from the school’s fundraising activities go to the American Heart Association.

The school has participated in the Go Red campaign for 10 years, and each year the event grows in terms of enthusiasm and engagement.

The high energy Town Hall Meeting featured a school wide rendition of “You’ve Got to Have Heart,” accompanied by music teacher Rebecca Correllus on the piano. Superintendent Joseph Hochreiter drew winning raffle tickets for pizza parties and movie passes; peer Leaders from the high school shared fun facts about heart health; and Golden Anchor awards were handed out, recognizing students who demonstrate the characteristics of Sailor P.R.I.D.E.: Positive attitude, Respectful, I am Responsible, Do my Best, and Empathy,

As in past years, heart-themed artwork, created in the school’s art classes, will be auctioned off at the FGL’s annual “Apple of My Eye Dance,” and all proceeds from the various fundraising activities will go to the American Heart Association.
