Fifth Graders Get Ready for Transition to BMMS

Excitement is rising as Hen Hud’s fifth graders prepare to transition to Blue Mountain Middle School next year. In light of the school closure, the district’s counselors, teachers and administrators have all been working hard to provide the fifth grade students with a virtual transition experience.

The fifth graders have been asked to join a Google classroom, set up by their elementary School Counselor Abbey Polito and their soon-to-be sixth grade School Counselor Brooke Bolen. In this virtual classroom, students are merged with new fifth grade friends from all three elementary schools, giving the students a first opportunity to meet and say “hello” to one another.

“We have also posted a survey where students can ask questions, so that we are sure to address their concerns,” said Polito. Students should keep an eye out for additional posts featuring locker tips, sample schedules and course descriptions.

“If your fifth grader hasn't joined yet, please encourage them to do so as soon as possible,” said Bolen. “We want all of our students to benefit from the information shared.”

Anyone having trouble getting into the Google classroom should send an email to Abbey.Polito@HenHudSchools.org.

Parents should be on the lookout for a presentation designed especially for them from BMMS counselors, Principal John Owens and Assistant Principal Anecia Bell-Jefferson. The presentation will provide an opportunity for them to learn about the transition to the middle school and ask any questions.
