Furnace Woods Moving Up Ceremony

It looked like rain was going to dampen the Furnace Woods Moving Up ceremony on June 21, but nothing more than a few drops fell, and the event went off without a hitch.

Superintendent Joseph Hochreiter thanked parents and school staff for their efforts during the past few years.  Addressing the students, he said, “I hope you will reflect on all of the great things you have achieved here at Furnace Woods, and I hope that you enjoy your summer -- because we will see you again in only 10 weeks!”

Former Furnace Woods student, and HHHS Class of 2022 graduate Aidan Wong addressed the students, as did DARE instructor, Officer Jones.  Aidan told the students he learned to love chess while at Furnace Woods and never stopped playing. For his Eagle Scout project, he built a large chess set that was installed at the school earlier this year.

Principal Dr. Cindy Kramer talked about how each year students returned to school a bit taller and ready for new adventures, and fifth grade teacher Diane Hughes shared special quotes from books the students had read this year.
