The Hendrick Hudson Board of Education is seeking input from all members of the community about the qualities they value the most in a superintendent of schools.

As a result of the resignation of Mr. Joseph Hochreiter effective June 30, 2023, the Board has authorized a superintendent search to be conducted to find the next permanent superintendent. 

Dr. Dennis Lauro, Acting Superintendent, will assist the Board in the search. The Board has authorized the employment of two other retired superintendents from Westchester who will join him in conducting the search. Dr. Marilyn Terranova and Ms. Nancy Taddiken, both former Westchester school superintendents with experience in conducting superintendent searches, will be on site to help seek community input.

The President of the Board of Education Alexis Bernard stated: “Given the involvement of the community over this past year and the issues facing this school district, it is the board’s desire to seek input from all constituencies including those of you without children in the schools. It is important that we hear from as many people as possible. There will be face-to-face meetings, where you can voice your opinion, in addition to an online survey that will also seek your input. The information gathered will help the search consultants formulate a profile of the district and what we are seeking. The process will be open for approximately one month.”

There are several scheduled meetings for the public to give their input on the qualifications, values, and leadership qualities that the community seeks in the next superintendent. Various times and locations have been arranged to allow for the greatest input into this process.

Community members who are unable to attend any of the scheduled meetings can still provide their input on the next superintendent by participating in a brief online survey which will remain open for 30 days. The link for the survey can be accessed HERE.

The district will host a virtual Superintendent Search Community Forum on Monday, June 5, 2023, from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m.

La Junta de Educación de Hendrick Hudson busca la opinión de todos los miembros de la comunidad sobre las cualidades que más valoran en un superintendente de escuelas.

Como resultado de la renuncia del Sr. Joseph Hochreiter a partir del 30 de junio de 2023, la Junta autorizó que se realice una búsqueda de superintendente para encontrar al próximo superintendente permanente. El Dr. Dennis Lauro, superintendente interino, asistirá a la junta en la búsqueda. Es importante que escuchemos a tantas personas como sea posible. Habrá reuniones cara a cara, donde podrá expresar su opinión, además de una encuesta en línea que también buscará su opinión. La información recopilada ayudará a los consultores de búsqueda a formular un perfil del distrito y lo que estamos buscando. El proceso estará abierto por aproximadamente un mes”.

Hay varias reuniones programadas para que el público dé su opinión sobre las calificaciones, los valores y las cualidades de liderazgo que la comunidad busca en el próximo superintendente. Se han organizado varios horarios y lugares para permitir la mayor participación en este proceso.
