Hendrick Hudson High School student Victor Delgado has an exciting weekend ahead. The Sailor sophomore has qualified for the New York State Cross-Country Championships, which will be held this weekend.

Delgado ran a qualifying time of 17:26.1 on Saturday, Nov. 4, at the Section 1 Championships at Bowdoin Park in Wappingers Falls. Delgado’s time was the best ever for a Hen Hud runner at Bowdoin Park, where the championships are traditionally held.

Coach Marcia Bailey was proud of Delgado’s accomplishments.

“This was an outstanding accomplishment for Victor,” Bailey said. “He has really come on strong during the final stages of our season. He continues to improve in every race he runs. I am looking forward to him experiencing the New York State Championships.”

Due to his accomplishment, Delgado will compete in the state championship meet on Saturday, November 11. The event will be held at Vernon-Verona-Sherrill High School, which is located outside of Syracuse, N.Y.
